RS Models 92158 Ryan NYP "Spirit of St. Louis"

Spirit of St. Louis was an American racing and sports aircraft with a mixed design, classic tail, high-wing configuration, with a fixed landing gear. The drive was provided by a single engine Wright Whirlwind J-5 with a power of 220 hp. The prototype flight took place in 1927. Only one copy of this plane was built.

Spirit of St. Louis was manufactured by Granville Brothers Aircraft for Charles Lindbergh. The only task of this aircraft was to enable a single, non-stop flight over the Atlantic Ocean on the New York-Paris route. This was reflected in the design of the machine, which was as light as possible, did not have a windshield and had an amazing flight range for this class of machines. The famous flight began on May 20, 1927, and 33.5 hours later Charles Lindbergh landed in Paris, making his plane a history of aviation.
