In 2006, the British Armed Forces British Armed Forces had approximately 196,000 soldiers in active service. It is worth adding that on a fairly large scale - especially in Afghanistan - lightly armored Jackal vehicles were used. British armored forces successfully participated in the First Gulf War (1990-1991) and in the intervention in Iraq in 2003.
